Beyond Formulas & Forces - Inspire the Next Generation of Builders, Doers and Thinkers
Join Us as an IGCSE Physics Teacher
Physics is more than just equations on a whiteboard—it’s the key to understanding motion, energy, space, and time. It explains why planets orbit the sun, how bridges withstand weight, and what makes electricity flow. Yet, in many classrooms, physics becomes a subject of memorisation rather than exploration.
At TongXin Waldorf School, we believe that physics should be dynamic, interactive, and deeply connected to the real world. We are looking for a Full-Time IGCSE Physics Teacher who can bridge the Waldorf philosophy of experiential learning with the rigour of the IGCSE curriculum—ensuring students not only succeed in their exams but develop a lifelong curiosity for both physics and the world around them.
A Unique Opportunity - With Support to Make It Work
This isn’t about delivering pre-scripted lessons. It’s about fostering a deep understanding of physics through experimentation, creative problem-solving, and interdisciplinary connections. You don’t need experience in holistic Waldorf education—just an openness to explore new teaching methods. You’ll have the freedom to incorporate hands-on experiments, artistic expression, and real-world applications—and the support to integrate these approaches with structured exam preparation.
What You'll Do (With Flexibility & Guidance)
- Make Physics Come Alive – Help students see physics not as abstract equations but as a way of understanding nature, energy, and the forces shaping our world.
- Balance Structure with Exploration – Guide students through IGCSE exam preparation while integrating experiments, creative projects, and hands-on activities to bring concepts to life.
- Work in Small Classes – With 10-15 students per class, you’ll have the space to personalise learning and build strong student relationships.
- Support Learning Beyond the Classroom – Lead physics workshops, science fairs, or real-world projects to help students apply their knowledge in creative ways.
- Collaborate Across Subjects – Connect physics with mathematics, chemistry, technology, and even artistic disciplines, helping students see the interconnectedness of learning.
- Foster Scientific Inquiry – Guide students in designing and conducting experiments, developing critical thinking, and analysing data with curiosity.
- Contribute to School Life – Be part of a supportive, community-driven environment, where teaching is about more than just delivering content. Teachers, students, and parents learn, support and grow together.
Who We're Looking For
- A qualified Physics teacher with experience teaching IGCSE Physics or a similar syllabus.
- Passionate about making physics accessible, engaging, and relevant for students.
- A strong communicator who can explain complex concepts in a clear and inspiring way.
- Open to exploring a more experiential, interdisciplinary teaching approach (training and support provided).
- Someone who values both academic rigour and creativity—helping students develop scientific reasoning, curiosity, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Physics, Science Education, or a closely related field.
- Teaching qualification (PGCE, Diploma in Education) or equivalent certification (preferred).
- Experience with hands-on, inquiry-based teaching.
- Familiarity with IGCSE assessment methods and exam preparation strategies.
- Experience with student-led projects, science fairs, or STEM-related activities (preferred).
- Ability to teach IGCSE Additional Mathematics is an added bonus.
More Than a Classroom - A Space for Discovery
This is a full-time position where your teaching will spark curiosity that lasts far beyond the classroom. If you’re passionate about helping students not only pass exams but see physics as a way to understand and engage with the world, we’d love to hear from you.
Apply today, and let’s create a learning experience where physics isn’t just studied—it’s experienced.
